Our
companies’ roots go back to 1979 when as Countdown Clean
Systems we started cleanroom garment manufacture and opened
our first laundry dedicated to processing garments specifically
for
cleanroom environments, and in 1983 when as Advanced Industrial
Supplies (subsequently ais Cleanroom Products Ltd) we began
to supply cleanroom consumables to the rapidly expanding semi
conductor
and micro electronic industries in the UK.
Both
companies expanded rapidly during the 1980’s and 1990’s
as the UK became a major European centre for semi conductor
manufacturing
by some of the Worlds leading companies. At the same time
other industries became increasingly reliant on manufacturing
in
critical environments such as Medical Device, Bio Tech
and Pharmaceutical companies. In recent years as semi conductor
businesses relocated to the Far East both companies restructured
and focussed on core ranges occasionally discussing opportunities
of working together.
In
the Autumn of 2004 negotiations were successfully concluded
and the companies
merged creating ais Countdown Ltd which introduced into the
United Kingdom the first dedicated cleanroom company able
to provide from a single source a complete range of products
and
services to company’s operating critical environments.
We
have a total of four facilities in the UK. Two garment processing
facilities located in Swindon and Newcastle each accredited
with the ISO 9001: 2000 quality standard and carry out
decontamination
to ASTMF51-00 Class A and two cleanroom consumables distribution
centres located at Rochester and Falkirk. Our operational
facilities can provide competitive rental contracts for garment
supply
and decontamination, or a process contract to decontaminate,
inspect and repair existing garments. For some customers
we have our own dedicated employees on site responsible for
controlling
their entire garment handling system indeed we can provide
total facilities management when we include our extensive
range of cleanroom consumables.
From
garments and processing to gloves, wipers and mats we can justifiably
claim that we “service critical environments to a higher
standard.” |
